For a movie to be fun, it needs two elements roguish heroes and fear-inspiring villains, but for action movies to take it to the next level and claim a spot in viewers’ hearts we expect memorable weaponry. Sure, lots of movies have deadly knives, jagged blades or red beam lasers, but these weapons are a notch higher than your average action movie weaponry. Here are the top five beloved action movie weapons.

5. Hattori Hanzo Sword – Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2
“I’ve created something that kills people. And in that purpose, I was a success. I’ve done this because, philosophically, I am sympathetic to your aim. I can tell you with no ego; this is my finest sword. If, on your journey, you should encounter God, God will be cut.” These were the bold words chillingly said by Hattori Hanzo upon completion of his last and most priceless samurai sword. After watching the blade remove heads right and left for 2 ½ hours, including taking out the Deadly Viper Assassination squad, we think there’s some claim to Mr. Hanzo’s words. People love this samurai sword because of its witty maker and ass-kicking wielder.

4. Zorg ZF-1 – The Fifth Element
Although the Zorg ZF-1 is a lesser known weapon in movie history, it makes the list because, those that do know it can’t get enough. Possibly carrying a little too much danger in one firearm. This gun contains almost every defensive or offensive feature you could ever want including a rocket launcher, machine gun with replay capability, poison arrow launcher, net launcher, flamethrower and freeze ray.  The Zorg ZF-1 comes in a convenient and lightweight size topping it off as the Swiss army knife of weapons. Loved for it’s long list of features and the destruction that breaks loose when Bruce Willis gets his hands on it.

3.  The .44 Magnum in ‘Dirty Harry’
“Being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?” Possibly one of the most over-quoted movie lines ever, .44 Magnums originally weren’t terrifying weapons but after being in the hands of the infamous Henry Callahan everyone was rushing to buy one. After “Dirty Harry” released the sales for .44 Magnums almost doubled. With epic movie lines and one of Clint Eastwood’s best performances ever, it’s easy to see why this gun will always hold a spot in movie-goers hearts.

2.The Noisy Cricket- Men In Black
The Noisy Crickethits the point home that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Although its only the size of the palm of your hand, this little device can easilyblow a hole through the wall with a single shot and can sometimes send unsuspecting users like Will Smith flying through the nearest wall.

1. Death Star
This enormous weapon of mass destruction is a triple threat, housing troops, Darth Vader and blowing up planets. From its first appearance in 1977, this weapon formed a special connection with audiences worldwide. There is currently a facebook petition to have a real life death star built; talk about a weapon with a strong following.
