If you’re a gun enthusiast you may have already heard about the revolutionary R.I.P ammo by G2R Ammo. However, I have noticed that not everyone knows about this ammo, so let’s break it down and you can decided for yourself if it’s worth the money.

G2R’s R.I.P ammo stands for Radically Invasive Projectile, and of course, it also stands for Rest in Peace. This sounds like a gun lover’s dream ammo, and their slogan is, “The Last Round You’ll Ever Need.” So, the question is, what makes this ammo special and stand out from the rest of the pack?

If you visit their website, it tells you how their ammo is different, in a scientific and confusing way. I am going to try my best to break this down for you, but I am not a scientist. The purpose and invention of the R.I.P. ammo is to give you control of how the projectile acts when it goes through many different mediums. This happens by having control of the manufacturing process of the ammo and the different rate of failures at varying zones all along the axial length of the ammo.

The ammo is made to be predictable in its state once it’s fired, it will stay solid though one medium, but the same exact projectile will react as a bullet that fragments through another type of medium, all without the projectile being altered during the process. In making this ammo, the geometry used was all about how the projectile will travel through the body and tissues. The medical industry has proven that a trocar point will penetrate the dermis layer of the skin even more efficiently. The first patents for trocars were seen in the early part of the 19th century, and they took this geometry that is used at the front part of the projectile to create this ammo, and its predictability in its reaction of different mediums.

I really hope this is making sense, as I am trying to break it down the best that I can. Here is an example, think of a hole saw. A hole saw reacts differently with different mediums that it has to cut through. With plywood the hole saw will make a clean cut and packs the projectile with a slug, this makes it solid and it ends up using less energy to get the job done. Law enforcement could be benefitted greatly by this ammo. Imagine a situation where the officer’s target is behind a certain obstacle and more energy is needed to get to the intended target, the target will not slow down this ammo.

The end result is this: Ammo that is not slowed down when it needs to go through more than one medium to reach its intended target. The trocar geometry of the petals, the end result for diameter of the fragmentation pattern is at its max. The result of this ammo is completely devastating. Is it “The Last Round You’ll Ever Need,”?
